Star Ratings now available for Gawler aged care homes
20 December 2022
The Australian Government has publicly released Star Ratings for aged care homes, as a key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Star Ratings offer increased transparency about the quality of residential aged care homes across the country.
Aged care homes receive an overall Star Rating and ratings against four sub-categories: Compliance, Residents’ Experience, Staffing and Quality Measures.
Preliminary Star Ratings have been shared with providers and showed that all aged care homes in Gawler received three or four star ratings.
One or two stars identifies a provider needing improvement.
“Star Ratings will help older people in residential aged care, their families and carers, to understand how their service is performing and prompt conversations with their provider about their plan for improvement,” Mr Burnell said.
“It is also an essential tool for those who are researching aged care home options,” Mr Burnell said
“I am committed to supporting our community and working with our local aged care providers to improve the quality of care for every older person,” Mr Burnell said.
