Matt Burnell MP, Federal Member for Spence has joined the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Minister for Social Services to announce that the City of Playford will receive $360,000 to improve social and economic participation of vulnerable or at-risk groups.
This funding is being made available under the second round of Strong and Resilient Communities – Inclusive Communities grants, which provides one-off funding for up to two years for projects to support young people aged 12-18, people with disability and mental health issues, vulnerable women, or unemployed people.
Building on the success of the first funding round, 34 organisations across Australia will share in $10.9 million under this grant round.
“I am pleased to see this additional funding arrive in our community, for those who need it most,” said Matt Burnell.
The project will aim to increase education, skills, work readiness and community connectedness.
The project will deliver activities in broadcasting, game development, screen and media, and contemporary music production.
Each activity will be coupled with an industry led workshop and an Industry live work excursion.
Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth, emphasised the importance of grassroots, community-led support in Australia.
“We know there are pockets of disadvantage in communities across Australia,” Minister Rishworth said.
“These grants aim to support vulnerable and disadvantaged people on pathways to self-reliance and empowerment through local community-driven solutions that support them to participate socially and economically.”
Over 1100 applications were received in this latest grant round. Successful applicants were chosen following a rigorous, independent selection process.
